School
Oake and Bradford CP School
The school, originally called Hillfarrance Oake and Heathfield Board school, was built in1879. It was renamed Oake Primary school in 1961. In 1984 Bradford school closed and was amalgamated with Oake school becoming Oake and Bradford County Primary school. For the Autumn term we were very pleased to see all our returning pupils and new children starting in our Reception. There have also been some staff changes this term, we have welcomed Mr. Gill who is teaching Class 3 and we have a new school secretary Mrs. Powell-Gill. The school diary is starting to get booked up with various trips and activities. Class 2 have a visit to Taunton Museum to learn more about the Romans. The older children are getting a weekly taster of French from a language teacher who visits from Kingsmead School. From Oake and Bradford school pupils progress to one of the secondary schools in the area. The majority go to Kingsmead Community School and Court Fields Community School. The painting of Oake station in the playground is by Jim Clapton and the PTA bought the train The environment is an important part of education and the children are encouraged to look after both the school garden and the local area.
All the children were involved in the design of the stained glass window under the guidance of Avril Silk a stained glass artist who made the window.
