Hillfarrance Profile

Hillfarrance is a small hamlet to the south of Oake and 3 miles from the M5 junction at Wellington.

There is a public house, The Anchor Inn, and a church dedicated to The Holy Cross is situated in the centre of the hamlet.

The Sustrans cycle route from Bristol to Padstow passes through the village (Route 3).

The top picture looks towards The Anchor Inn and was taken from the top of the church tower, likewise the picture showing Burgine on the left and Palmers Cottage on the right, (originally 3 properties) between the two at the back is Foxgloves. Both photos taken in January 2005.

................................

Ann Hancock, of Hillfarrance, bravely abseiled down the tower of Holy Cross Church to raise funds for 'Habitat for Humanity'. Many local residents watched with bated breath! Several children brought along teddy bears to also have a go at abseiling.

Cream teas were served and there were several stalls.
