GRAND OPENING - 10 APRIL 2010

The official opening of the Oake Play Area took place on Saturday 10 April 2010. Rev Alison Norris, our vicar, blessed the play area. It was a lovely warm sunny afternoon as the Mayor cut the ribbon and declared the area for all to climb on, swing upon and generally have lots of fun. Refreshments were provided for all ages and we were pleased to welcome refresentatives from Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council who provided this new village feature, as well as the contractor, Parsons Landscaping, the landscape architect from Swan Paul and Barnardos who provided consultation sessions with the children.

Oake and Bradford School performed their Nativity tableau at the village carol service
in the village hall on the Friday before Christmas.

The proceeds from the carol singing on the previous Wednesday and a withdrawing collection in aid of SURE totalled £237.69. Many thanks to all who contributed and took part.

SNOWMEN COME TO OAKE - FEBRUARY 2009

Oake was covered in snow on Friday morning on February 6 2009. School was closed and snowmen appeared on the mini roundabout and in gardens along the road through Oake. The village hall recreation field sprouted some really creative sculptures and a good time was had by all.
