OAKE'S OWN HEROINE 2011

Somerset Heroes award winner Phyllis Jewel was told she had been nominated for an award by fellow passenger Marilyn Power on a bus heading for Wellington - prompting a hearty round of applause from everybody on board.
Phyllis supports five charities each year. Over the years NSPCC, Barnados, SURE, the British heart Foundation, Marie Curie, Macmillan, St Margaret's Hospice and the Conquest Riding Centre have all benefitted from her work, and she also does regular litter picks along the roads of Oake, Cotford St Luke and Bradford on Tone.

OAKE FETE

The weather was exceeding kind - a splendid afternoon organised by Oake and Bradford PTA and Oake and District hall. The final figure is still to be declared but more than £2000 was taken on the day. Well done all who helped, and all who came. Many thanks to Jo Bimson for directing us all so well.
