NEW SCHOOL FOR OAKE

A decision has now been made about the name for the new school in Oake. It is to be Oake Bradford and Nynehead Church of England (VC) primary school. We understand that the new uniform will be a distinctive shade of blue.

OAKE PLAY AREA

Parsons Landscaping returned to Oake at the beginning of July to install the final two pieces of play equipment funded by the Big Lottery. Younsters will be able to swoop for nearly 30 yards on the aerial runway and enthusiastic users of the turn fly have the prospect of an airy flight! A gate is to be installed at the entrance to the bridge at the request of users.
We trust that areas of grass which have suffered from the dry weather will recover soon.
The warm weather has guaranteed a busy time at the play area. Thank you to users coming by car for using the hall car park - this reduces congestion at the entrance to Saxon Close and inconvenience to the residents living directly adjacent to the site - but most importantly ensures that our children walking to the site are not endangered by having to negotiate parked cars.
Thank you for collecting together litter and placing it in the bins - it woulod be appreciated if larger items could be taken home as the capacity of the dustbins is limited. Sadly the large additional litter bin installed to accomodate the additional rubbish has disappeared - if you know where it is, please can it be returned to the play area.

OAKE SUMMER FETE

The sun shone, the coconuts were knocked off their perches, the crockery was smashed, the bar was busy all the time and the ice cream and cream teas went down a treat. What a wonderful day we had, watched by all those scarecrows. Over £1900 was raised to be shared between the village hall and the school. Thank you to all who helped with and supported this community event.
