MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON

TUESDAY 9 TH JUNE   2009 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL

PRESENT: Cllrs. C. Bishop, G. Gill, D. Roots, J. Paul, P. Coles, the Clerk and Tony McMahon   S.C.C.

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME:    None

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:

APOLOGIES:   Cllrs. D. Price and A. Dyke

The new Somerset County Councillor, Tony McMahon was congratulated and welcomed to the meeting by the Chairman.

Cllr. McMahon said that one of the first issues he had been asked to raise was the closure of Nynhead School, he said one could not assume that the decision would be reversed. He did give assurances that whatever the outcome Oake & Bradford School would not miss out on anything they had been promised.

Pot holes was another of their priorities and that there would be a re-funding for Highways to enable a repair programme to be implemented. They are also determined to get the debt down and to freeze council tax.

The Chairman asked if they have any funds available could some be put towards the calibration costs of radar speed guns which many councils have purchased and which would cost approximately £120 each year to have calibrated.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting held on the 12 th May were signed as being a correct record.

MATTERS ARISING:

Driver Awareness Course: This has been arranged for 23 rd June from 6.30pm to 9.00pm at Oake Hall.

Play Area (Planning): It will not now be necessary to put in an application for planning as it has been agreed that Taunton Deane will deal with this.

Planning Training Sessions: Cllr’s. were informed that Training sessions are to be held at Taunton Deane on the 5 th August and 25 th November

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

Maintenance Grants: It was agreed that we ask for £150 towards Footpath Maintenance. The requests for Burial Ground Grants would remain the same, however for playing field maintenance we would ask if any funds were available to go towards the new play area.

Footpaths: Gordon Messenger of Hillfarrance had offered to help check paths within the parish, Councillors agreed that this would be most helpful but that he should keep our Footpath Warden, Cllr. Paul, advised of any problems.

Calibration of Radar Speed Gun: The Clerk reported that a letter had been received from the suppliers of the gun to say that it was due for calibration. It was agreed that this could go ahead and be done but first it was suggested the Police be contacted to see if they have calibration facility and could do it locally.

PLANNING:

27/09/008 Erection of single storey extension at Oakmead, Allerford Rd. Oake.

27/09/002 Erection of single storey timber stable block and access track at Allerford Farm, Allerford.

27/09/009 Erection of porch over front door at Langdale, Hillfarrance.

After careful consideration of the above applications councillors had no objections to any of them.
