MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON
TUESDAY 13 TH JULY 2010 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL
PRESENTt: Cllrs. A. Dyke, J. Paul, D. Roots, P Coles, G. Gill, D. Price the Clerk, PCSO Jon McAteer and 7 members of the public.
PUBLIC QUESTION TIME: None
DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:
APOLOGIES: Cllr. C. Bishop
MINUTES: The Minutes of the Annual General meeting held on the 8 th June were signed as being a correct record.
MATTERS ARISING:
Speed Gun: Chris Fry has now moved on from dealing with the Local Action Teams. Kate Rollinson has taken over in the interim.
Telephone Kiosk: Kevin Sharland has been asked to quote for painting the kiosk. Cllrs. thought that it would be advisable to wait until the school has been completed before this was done as there will still be a lot of dust etc., when they make the new school entrance. Cllr. Gill said that he would be prepared to paint the kiosk when the time came.
Signs: Highways were asked about the provision of a sign near the Post Office to make drivers aware of people crossing the road in that area. They had a look at the site and do not believe a sign is necessary as speeds are slow due to the traffic calming there, they also said they are trying to reduce the number of signs in the County and it would be difficult to justify one here.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
Tractor Parking in Saxon Close: Residents have been upset by a tractor parking in Saxon Close and say it is a danger if emergency vehicles need to get through, they are also concerned at oil left on the road and footway. PCSO Jon McAteer has spoken to the driver as well as the residents. He agreed to go a talk to the driver again.
Footpaths: Cllr. Paul reported on a couple of paths, there will be a metal gate fitted on path WG 9/4 from the School to the Royal Oak. He also said that as yet no action has been taken on providing a bridge below Pitlands in Hillfarrance, this has been on going since 2008.
Flood Relief Scheme: Firstly it was felt that the grass which had been cut in mind June was done much to early when butterflies were breeding.Cllr. Dyke reported that a considerable improvement in the conservation value of the relief area had been seen in recent years. It was felt that a letter should be written to the Environment Agency regarding this and also that talks should be held with conservationists to see if the could be made a conservation area. The Environment Agency also to be asked if a chain could be fitted across the entrance to Mr. Wensleys small paddock where cars park leaving a great deal of rubbish and also some are sleeping in their cars overnight.
Village Hall Committee: It was unanimously agreed that Cllr. Bishop should remain our representative on the Hall Committee.
