MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON

TUESDAY 14 TH JULY   2009 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL

PRESENT: Cllrs. D. Price, D. Roots, A. Dyke, P. Coles, and the Clerk

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME:    None

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:

APOLOGIES:   Cllrs. Bishop, Gill and Paul.

Cllr D. Price took the position of Chairman for the meeting.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting held on the 9 th June were signed as being a correct record.

MATTERS ARISING:

Driver Awareness Course: 16 people attended this very informative course.

Extension of Footpath: The Highways office carried out a scorecard exercise for the proposed extension of the footpath in front of 2 and 4 Oake Close. There are several standard questions on the scorecard which give numeric values for the answers. Examples are, how many injury accidents have occurred along the proposed length in the last 5 years, approx how many school children walk along the route where the proposed footpath is situated, speed limits etc. This exercise was completed and forwarded to the LTP Team and Highways are waiting on the results.

Calibration of Speed Gun: To save carriage costs Avon & Somerset Police have offered to send our gun for calibration when their own equipment is tested. The Clerk has taken it to Bridgwater Police Station for that purpose.

Police Report: There had been two RTC’s reported, one on the junction of the Oake road turning off to Hillfarrance and the second on the bend at Preston Bowyer where a cyclist was knocked off his bike, he had slight injuries. There was one call to a domestic incident at Oake and a couple of unconfirmed intruder alarm calls.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

Communities set to Benefit:  A new scheme has been launched which gives local people a say in how £4million of recovered criminal assets should be spent in their communities. Community Cash Back is a national initiative that is giving the public the chance to decide how the ill-gotten gains of criminals can be used to benefit their communities in the fight against crime. Up to £95,000 will be made available in Avon & Somerset to fund community projects that are linked in some way to crime or anti-social behaviour. Members of the local community are invited to propose projects for funding, and to give their comments on projects that have been nominated.
