PARISH COUNCIL MEETING TO BE HELD ON 8TH JULY AT OAKE HALL – 7.00 P.M.. MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY
8th JULY 2008 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL
PRESENT: Cllrs. C. Bishop, P. Coles, G. Gill, J. Paul, D. Price, D. Roots the Clerk and David Greig.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:

MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting held on the 10th June were signed as being a correct record.
MATTERS ARISING:
Speed Watch: A Genesis speed gun has been purchased and we are now waiting for the Police to designate suitable sites for its use in Oake and Hillcommon. Lawrence Rayment has been contacted with regards to purchasing the necessary fluorescent jackets and the Insurance Company have been informed of the purchase.
Notice boards: The costs of these are as yet unknown and Taunton Deane say there is a waiting list, it was decided not to add our name to the list.
Bus shelter: Cllr. Bishop had cleared all the rubbish from the inside of the shelter and Cllr. Gill and the Clerk had treated both the inside and outside with cuprinol.
Highways: With regards to the speed of traffic on the Oake to Bradford-n-Tone road Mr I, Titcombe of S.C.C. said, ‘this length of road is in subject to the national speed limit of 60, therefore vehicles can travel up to 60.’ He also went on to say that speed checks are usually only carried out in 30/40 limits not 60’s and he did not think traffic exceeded this speed on that road.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
Co-option of new Councillor: As five names had been put forward for the position of Councillor, they were Mr. E. Horton, Mr. I. Ramus, Mrs. S. Woodbury, Mr. A. Dyke and Mr. J. Sharland, a ballot was held, Mr. David Greig the Parish Liaison Officer of Taunton Deane recorded the votes. Mr. Adrian Dyke of Hillfarrance received the most votes and will be asked to take up his position at the next meeting.
Parish Path Liaison Officers: Cllr. J. Paul is the PPLO for Oake he has been given various tools to enable him to repair and clear footpaths which are reported to him as being in need of attention. The Chairman thanked him for taking on this position.
Rural Youth Worker: Mr. Bob Nicholls has been appointed Rural Project Worker covering the county Council Divisions of Upper Tone and Lydeard, he is seeking to discover what if any facilities there are for youngsters in Oake. A questionnaire was completed and will be sent back to him.
Burial Ground Grants:Grants have been applied for, we were advised to ask for the same as last year. This year £250 was requested for footpath upkeep.
Fireworks:Mr. M. Cull had written in respect of the problem of fireworks and the effect they have on pets, he felt it would be helpful if in future the Golf Club could advertise when fireworks would be used. The Clerk was asked to write to the Manager of the Golf Club and ask if they would be prepared to put something in the parish magazine.

Refused: Siting of one mobile home and one touring caravan at Altona Park, Hillfarrance.
