DRAFT MINUTES
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 8 TH JANUARY 2008 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL
PRESENT: Cllrs. C. Bishop, P. Coles, D. Price, D.Roots the parish Clerk, David Greig & Caroline Smeaton.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Annual meeting held on the 20 th November were signed as being a correct record.
MATTERS OF REPORT:
Community Speed Watch: Mike Bond of the Road Policing Unit had contacted the Clerk and is hoping to arrange initial training within the next month.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
Affordable Housing: No further information has been received.
Rural Youth Project: S.C.C. Mrs. Caroline Smeaton informed Council that in principal funding has been agreed to employ a youth worker to improve the provision for youth in the rural communities of the Lydeard and Upper Tone Divisions.
An initial meeting has been arranged to set up a Management Group this will take place on 14 th January at Rock House, Halse. Councils are welcome to send a representative.
Councillors felt that Mr. Joe Bimson of Oake might be someone who would be interested in this project and it was left to the Clerk to contact him and give him full details.
The Chairman said that under a similar funding scheme the Taunton Nights Nippy Bus would be operating. This would offer a get you home service from various points in Taunton at 23.55 from the Railway Station or 00.02 from Musgrove, this bus would come as far as Bradford-on-Tone and Hillfarrance.
PLANNING:
27/2007/023.Erection of Smokers canopy at Oake Manor Golf Club.
There were no objections to this application. Proposed it be approved Cllr. Price, seconded Cllr. Coles.
27/2007/022 Conversion of Barns to residential unit at Harris Barns, Hillcommon.
There were no objections to this application. Proposed it be approved Cllr. Price, seconded Cllr. Roots.
