MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 12 TH FEBRUARY 2008 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL  

PRESENT: Cllrs. C. Bishop, R. Shaw, P. Coles, D. Price, D. Roots, J. Paul, G. Gill the parish Clerk and   David Greig   the Parish liaison Officer from Taunton Deane. There were also 18 members of the public present and Police Constable Phil John.

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME   Several questions were taken from the floor regarding planning application     27/2007/026

Constable John introduced himself as the temporary beat Officer for our area, he will be sending information for the magazine and also for the notice boards should anyone wish to contact him at any time.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:   Cllr. R. Shaw (Personal) for application 27/2007/026

APOLOGIES:   .S.C.C. Cllr. Mrs. Smeaton..

PLANNING:/2007/026 Outline application for residential development of 22 affordable homes and associated parking together with replacement storage buildings and relocation of stables at land to south and east of Barton House, Oake.

This application provoked a good deal of discussion it was finally proposed by Cllr. Paul and seconded by Cllr. Coles and supported by two other Cllrs. that ‘the Parish Council object on the density of the development’.

Cllr. R. Shaw proposed that the scheme be approved subject to drainage and traffic being investigated this was supported by Cllr. Gill.

The Chairman declined to accept this second proposal as a decision had been made by 4 votes to 2, he felt it was inappropriate.

/2007/001 Part conversion of double garage to form habitable room at 1 Saxon Close, Oake.

Proposed we support this application Cllr. Shaw, seconded by Cllr. Roots all agreed.

/2007/002 Erection of two single storey extensions at Oake View Farm, Oake.

Cllr. Shaw proposed we support this application, this was seconded by Cllr. Gill, all agreed.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting held on the 8 th January were signed as being a correct record.

MATTERS OF REPORT:

Rural Youth Project: Mr. Jo Bimson has offered to be involved with this project and to liaise with the Parish Council.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

Letter from Mrs. G. Andrews:Mrs. Andrews had written to the Highways department asking if a the road sign on to the B 3227 which is a ‘give way’ sign could be changed to make it clear that it is a Four way cross roads’. Highways replied stating that this junction is no different from any other in the county and that the side road traffic must give way to the main road.

Governor for Oake/Nynehead Schools: A letter had been received from the Chair of Governors asking if a Parish Councillor would be prepared to stand. Cllr. Shaw said he would stand if they could not find anyone else, however, Cllr. Roots said that his wife was very willing to stand and would act as liaison with the Parish Council. It was proposed her name be put forward.

Parish Flood Fair: Cllrs. informed that this would be held on 21 st and 22 nd February, details to be circulated.

Letter from Somerset Youth Services: The Wiveliscombe Area Youth worker is researching if any activities for youths took place in our parish.

Community Heritage Development: A community event will be held in Somerset during May in Glastonbury Abbey, three massive marquees will house museums, heritage, local history/archaeology/geology societies taking part They would like as many people as possible that are interested in history or heritage to take part or if anyone practices a historic craft or even makes historically themed food to contact them.

Planning approval had been received for:

Erection of smokers canopy at Oake Manor Golf Club.

Erection of first floor extension to side at Beams cottage, Hillcommon.
