DRAFT MINUTES

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OAKE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 14 th AUGUST   2007 AT OAKE & DISTRICT HALL

 PRESENT: Cllrs. C. Bishop, D. Price, P. Coles, D. Roots, G. Gill, the parish Clerk and David Greig

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME   None

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:   None

APOLOGIES:   Cllr. J. Paul, R. Shaw and Mrs. C. Smeaton.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Annual meeting held on the 10 th July were signed as being a correct record.

MATTERS OF REPORT:

            Emergency Planning: Several names of farmers and others who have useful equipment were given to the Clerk who is compiling a list.

            Audit:  This had been successfully completed and the bill put forward for payment.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

    • 50 Notable Trees: The cut off date for nominations to be received by the Tree Warden is the 26 th August. Councillors will then be informed and will inspect each nominated tree to decide which should be chosen to represent the parish.
    • Review of additional pitch requirements for Gypsies and Travellers in the S.W.  Taunton Deane are required to provide 17 pitches by 2011, some have already been allocated which will reduce this number slightly. The document to be circulated and discussed next month.
    • Speed Checks: The Chairman plus Cllrs. Gill and Price had attended a meeting with the Police at West Buckland to discuss the possibility of purchasing a speed camera to be operated by members of the public who would be trained by the police to use it. The Clerk to put posters in Oake to see if any member of the public is interested and also to place an item in the magazine. The cost of a speed gun would be around £130 plus vat, yellow jackets would also have to be purchased.

PLANNING:   None

 Planning approval received for:

Change of use of former stables to dwelling, Heathfield Lodge.

Retention of mobile home for use as workers accommodation in association with horticultural activities at Daisycroft, Pontispool.

Meeting closed at 7. 25 pm.

Prior to the meeting taking place David Grieg the Parish Liaison Officer gave Councillors half and hours training on the Code of Conduct.
